Does your dog bark frantically at the doorbell?

It is a problem of over-excitement. There is something that we call a “conditioned emotional response” (CER), it is the emotion that we feel when we encounter a certain stimulus.

If your dog barks, jumps, and goes crazy when the doorbell rings, the sound of the doorbell creates these feelings of over-arousal in him. Luckily, we can change this CER with an approach in which we pair the “trigger” (doorbell) with food, to create a new, calm emotion.

Eventually your dog will be relaxed enough when he hears the doorbell that he will not bark – the sound will no longer make him frantic.
